The princess's memory drifted back, back before she had left the kingdom...

It was a special day for the Cupcake Kingdom. Today would be the first annual "Reading for the Sake of Reading" event -- an event in which the princess would read books to the children from all reaches of Ooo, and hopefully encourage the practice. It was intended for children and their parents, but everyone was welcome to join in the fun.

The evening went off without a hitch. The children and the parents all had fun, but unfortunately it was time for everyone to go home. As the guests were parting, leaving the Cupcake Kingdom and already buzzing about the next year's event, one girl stayed behind.</div><div>
Timidly, the jawbreaker girl approached the princess.
"Um...Excuse me?"
The Cupcake Princess turned and smiled at the girl, "Hello! What's your name?" She beamed a smile at her.
The girl blushed, "I'm Toots!"
"Nice to meet you, Toots! And what kingdom might you hail from?" The princess gave a mock-fancy accent that made Toots giggle.
"Well," she calmed herself, "My...My parents and I don't really live in one kingdom! We do a lot of travelling!"
"Oh, that sounds like fun! Are your parents here?"
"Um!! ...No! I-I came by myself! B-But, I just wanted to say thank you, Cupcake Princess. I hope I can be a princess just like you one day."
The princess smiled and kneeled down to be eye level with the girl, "Oh, Toots, you already are a princess. As long as you stay sweet and kind, you will always be a princess."
Toots looked a bit taken back, and tears welled in her eyes. "...Thank you so much, Princess!" Without hesitation, the girl threw her arms around the princess's neck and gave her the biggest hug she could muster up. The princess hugged her back gladly.
"It was wonderful to meet you, Toots. I'm sure your parents are worried about you, though!"
"...You're right," she spoke quietly, "I guess I'll go back home, now..."
"Feel free to stop by any time you need anything. Okay, Princess Toots?" The Cupcake Princess stood, leaving the jawbreaker girl to stare up at her fondly. With a quick nod Toots was off, skipping happily towards the kingdom gates.

But there had been a set of eyes watching the two of them. And these eyes had watched Toots for much longer than just today. He, who had been watching the girl for so long, knew that Toots was lying about one crucial thing: She didn't have parents. And an orphan was the perfect host for what he had in mind.
A cat-creature lay in wait under the shelter of a large shrub near the castle. With near excitement it watched as Toots approached. Waiting for just the right moment, the creature stepped out and gave a non-threatening "Mew~"
"Oh!" Toots stopped dead in her tracks, and then smiled. Carefully she bent her knees, bringing herself lower to the ground, and she extended her hand out towards the creature. "Hi, kitty!" The cat approached, rubbing his side against her arm as he drew closer to her face. "You're a friendly kitty!" Toots beamed. She pet his head, and he gave her a very loud, but very fake purr. In an instant, he lunged at the girl's face. His body became not much more than a mist and, oddly enough, the creature slipped straight into Toots's nostril.

The girl floundered around for a moment, coughing and sneezing, trying to get the thing out. And for a moment she lie still. And the moment dragged out until, finally, the girl stood. The first thing she did was examine her hands and her legs. "This will do," she smiled. And then, silently, she snuck into the Cupcake Castle. She had plans to make.

The child walked threw a kingdom he had not become familiar with yet, but he knew it had to be a nice place, for he could smell baked goods and baked goods had never mislead him in the past. As he walked he moves his arms forward and back like a regular person might do, however he seemed to be overdoing it a little bit, making them go way high and far back. Sure the child may of looked ridiculous to anyone who happened to watch him walk by, but he didnt care, he wanted to explore this kingdom as much as he could before the day was over. As he ventured on he began to sing a little song to himself "Making a Delivery, Bringing it across the sea. Bink's sake in the hold as we sail through the breeze"
